I’d like to start by saying welcome to The Off Day Adventurer! My name is Jamie and I’m not a professional traveler.
That’s right. I don’t live in a van. All of my belongings are not in storage nor have they been sold. I do not travel the world full time.
Likely, neither do you.
I am a full time critical care nurse who happens to love traveling, great food, and the perfect (comfortable) outfit.
Like myself, most people have full-time jobs or other obligations that prevent them from dropping everything and living on the run. Truth be told, most people like having a place to call home and don’t want to live a nomadic lifestyle, no matter how good it looks on Instagram, lol.
That’s where The Off Day Adventurer comes in. I hope to inspire you to take small trips, explore locally, and travel safely during this crazy time. I’ll be sharing my favorite spots and food, along with some fashion and self-care tips along the way!
To give you a little background on me….
Like I said, I’m a full time critical care nurse. I started my nursing career 9 years ago in the emergency department in Atlanta GA. I moved to California as a travel nurse a couple of years later. While in CA, I joined the Navy and was a Navy Nurse Corps Officer for 5 years. I was stationed at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside CA and then at Portsmouth Naval Medical Center in VA.
I was afforded the opportunity to become a flight nurse, to deploy with the Marine Corps to Europe and Africa, and to serve aboard the USNS Comfort hospital in New York City as part of the COVID-19 crisis response.
Last December, I left the Navy to start a family with my husband, Mitchell, who is still an active duty Marine. We are currently stationed in GA, so you’ll see a lot of our outtings will be in and around Atlanta.
I am excited to have you join me on this adventure and hope to see you out and about soon!
Stay safe, friend.
