Are you looking to make some last-minute Spring Break Plans? Want to take a trip somewhere but aren’t sure where to go?
Allow Google Travel to help.
Google Travel
First, go to https://www.google.com/travel/flights or search for “travel” in the google search bar.
Once there, enter your origin city but leave the “Where to?” bar blank.
Then enter your travel dates and hit the search button.
As you can see below, a map pops up showing prices based on your origin city. (A world map actually comes up but I’ve zoomed in on the U.S.)
Once you click on a city, a list of flight options will be generated on the left side of the screen.
I chose Miami as the example since flights from Atlanta to Miami were $54 at the time of my search.
From here, you can shop flights based on the various airlines’ fares.
If you click on “View flights,” a more extensive list of flight options will open. This allows you to shop flights based on airline, departure times, duration, emissions, and cost.
In the top right of this screen, you’ll see a date grid option.
This option will allow you to view flight prices based on each day of the week you will be traveling.
Here you’ll see trends to help you decide departure and return dates if you have travel flexibility.
Booking
You can book your flight by selecting any of the flight options.
However, I like to start my search with Google and then cross-reference those results with the airline’s website and other travel search engines like Hopper, Expedia, and Travelocity.
Travel Credit Cards
If you hold a credit card that gives you travel points, also search for travel options through your card’s site for extra deals.
For example, for my most recent trip to Miami, I looked at airfare patterns on google, booked the flight through the Hopper App, and then booked my hotel through the American Express Website to get 5X the points for travel.
If you don’t have a credit card that earns you travel points, you’re missing out on free money (and free travel).
I plan to write a whole post on this in the future, but for now, and for the sake of keeping this post short and simple, the two cards I use are the American Express Platinum card and the Captial One Venture card.
American Express is currently offering a referral bonus of 40,000 points for new members of its Gold Delta SkyMiles card.
I hope these resources help you make those last-minute plans!
